Happy New Year!
I am starting the new year with inspiration from the beautifully bright, block colours seen in these vintage railway posters, a great contrast to the dull grey weather outside! Many were designed by Norman Wilkinson.
Alphonse Mucha
The whimsical world of Mucha; the pattern, detail, and colour all combine to create these magical images.
Battleship Dazzle
Dazzle Camouflage was an attempt by artist Norman Wilkinson to confuse the opposition by applying these obscure patterns to the ships for protection.

Charlie Todd for TED
A great talk from Charlie Todd, and the great power of shared experiences and an example of positive therapy on the underground!

The Draughtsman's Arms
For the WHAT NOW! Exhibition at Marylebone One Church this week, which is looking at the role of the architect in todays society. Gundry & Ducker Architects have created a pop up bar called The Draughtsman's Arms. We etched the interior of a pub on CAD, looking at the advancement in technology and the change in role of the architect from the past to the present. The Bar is a room and a drawing.

Robert Dawson
Since Studying the Willow Pattern for an architecture project (http://www.louisabarfoot.com/Ladywood_Masterplanning_Collection_4.html), I have become very fascinated by its history and its prominence in todays kitchens and dressers. This reinterpretation of the pattern by Robert Dawson caught my eye, and made me look at the historic pattern with a new light.
Here is another use of perspective by Dawson that has been applied to ceramic tiles, to create an optical illusion.
Unknown Beautiful Light
I am unsure of where I originally sourced this image from, the light in itself is beautiful and I can only imagine the intricate shadow that it casts. If anyone knows who it is by please let me know.
