Holi, Festival of Colour






It's a ritual of colour enacted for centuries. Men from Nandgaon, Hindu god Krishna's hometown, march on Barsana in Mathura, the birth place of Krishna's beloved Radha, to put colour on women who wait prepared for them with sticks – mini battles break out amid explosions of colour.
The coloured powder is called 'Gulal'

The sheets were made from an electrically conductive material that lights up when a current passes through it!



I came across these beautiful photos when looking for pictures of a sweet factory for a project that I am doing. The picture at the top is of a young boy in Afghanistan who works in a small family run confectionery business. The other image just caught my eye - the colours, tiles, and subject.
